Yuanzhi Cao

Yuanzhi is a senior innovation engineer with the PTC Reality Lab. He received his PhD from Purdue University majoring in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in 2020. His research focus is on exploring novel augmented reality systems/interface/interaction designs for physical applications, such as machines, robots, and IoT.  He continues this research at the Reality Lab, exploring the future possibilities of spatial computing, augmented reality, and human-machine interaction. 
 
During his PhD studies, he published in top-tier HCI conferences, including as CHI, UIST, TEI, and DIS. He also has an extensive background in mechanical engineering and CAD design, which he studied as an undergrad. In his research work, he often relies on his artistic skill and talent to both sketch out ideas and create innovative and aesthetic designs.
